ISEA supported a medical device manufacturer in evaluating its production system performance.
The client, a major medical device manufacturer, had identified a need to evaluate its manufacturing organization’s performance within three areas: product quality, process efficiency and service level. Potential areas of improvements had been identified, but not yet quantified or addressed.
The ISEA / Triathlon assignment, performed in three phases, focused on (1) mapping the clients’ current situation, (2) developing targeted solutions for key improvement areas and (3) creating a plan for the way forward. As part of the assignment, the entire organization was analyzed and important processes documented. The complete flow from production planning to delivery was evaluated. The analysis led to the identification of a number of key problem areas, for which root causes were further investigated and a set of solutions developed. The last phase focused on how the solutions were to be prioritized and integrated in the organization.
The ISEA analysis led to the development of a new production system setup. In addition, the implementation plan helped the client’s management team launch a number of initiatives, which led to improvements both within manufacturing and general administration.
