A large commercial vehicles manufacturer was in need of introducing a new process for analyzing, developing and producing customer adapted variants of its products.
The client had developed a range of advanced products initially for use in the construction business, however it saw further commercial possibilities both in and outside that segment, which needed to be investigated. In order to benefit from this, the client needed an optimized and specific process to analyze, develop and produce customer adapted variants of its product line-up.
The ISEA / Triathlon assignment was to define and develop a specific process for customer adaptations. The process should manage all vital steps – from the brief initial customer requirements to product delivery and aftermarket services. The process had to be connected to the ordinary product development process, but should deliver results considerably faster – in less than 25% of the ordinary processing time. A requirement was that business case, quality of delivery and customer care were maintained at highest of standards.
Using ISEA's internal automotive expertise as well as Triathlon’s process development methodology, a customer adaption process was defined, developed and fine-tuned with all relevant stakeholders. The process is now in operation, allowing the client to explore and commercialize significant new business opportunities.
