The ISEA expert team helped a global cars manufacturer in setting up new working procedures and support systems to achieve a more focused product development setup.
The client experienced that too much effort was directed towards activities that were not the prime focus of one its product development units. Senior Engineering had to spend a large portion of their time on administration, financial follow-up and malfunctioning support systems. This affected deliveries from the unit negatively, which in turn resulted in increased market and aftermarket costs and delays.
The ISEA / Triathlon assignment focused on assessing all vital product development unit activities internally, and to a certain degree also externally. This included evaluating and prioritizing activities, and based on the outcome propose alternative setups, and changed responsibilities.
New responsibilities, working procedures and priorities for the product development unit were established, while the fundamental setup was left unchanged. Local support functions were established to take care of administrative and system support issues. This enabled Senior Engineering to focus less on administrative and financial tasks, and more on internal engineering deliveries, as well as deliveries from suppliers.
